Cedar County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Cedar County Multi Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan for 2026 is currently being updated.  

Please keep an eye out for public notices for meetings or surveys in the newspaper, on the websites, 

and on social media. 

The First Public Meeting will be December 9, 2025 at 6:30 pm.  More details on location coming soon!

Cedar County and the participating cities, and public school districts prepared this multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan update to guide hazard mitigation planning to better protect the people and property of the planning area from the effects of hazard events. 

This plan demonstrates the jurisdiction’s commitments to reducing risks from hazards and serves as a tool to help decision makers direct mitigation activities and resources.  This plan was also developed to provide eligibility to Cedar County, and the participating jurisdictions, for certain federal grant programs: specifically,  Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grants such as the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program, and Flood Mitigation Assistance Program.
